I have a HP Color LaserJet CP1215 connected to my DS109j. It appears to recognize it since it shows up in the list of printers in the disk station manager. It's not listed as officially supported but it is listed in the. On that page, it says to install the printer first and then install Synology Assistant.

It installs fine if I plug the USB cable into my computer. When I use Synology Assistant's Add Printer wizard, it sees the printer: usbprinter ( Hewlett-Packard HP Color LaserJet CP1215 ) In the next step, it offers the correct driver options in the list boxes. However, in the last step I get a Windows dialog that says: 'Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000705). Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver. Contact your administrator for help locating and installing a suitable driver.' The wizard then gives me a dialog that says 'Printer Installation failed.' I tried downloading the and selecting 'Install from disk' but it tells me 'The specified location does not contain any information about your hardware.'

I get the same result from Vista and XP. How can I successfully install this printer connected to my disk station? I had a similar problem (same error message) with my Samsung ML-2851ND printer (ML-2850 family). It worked fine for my Windows 7 machine but not on XP, despite trying both the Universal Driver and PostScript driver. In the end my successful workaround was to download the PCL driver from the Samsung web site, which came with a.INF file as required by the 'Install Disk' button in the Synology Assistant (as described in a previous post in this thread). Using this approach to install the driver seemed to do the trick.
